On the June 30 - July 1, 2010 the Kazakhstani exhibition & conference company “Expo.kz” in co-operation with the Kazakhstan Business Association For Sustainable Development (KBASD) organizes the 1st Kazakhstan International Congress on mineral recourses and metallurgy «Astana Minerals & Metallurgy – ÀÌÌ 2010» in the Astana City - capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project is dedicated to the celebration of the professional Day of Kazakhstani Metallurgy Industry Workers.
Considering the fact, that mineral resources – main reserve of Kazakhstan’s formation as a leading economic power with high standards of living of its population, the main purposes of the Congress are:
ü Promotion of attracting investments into the sector of mineral resources and metallurgy of the RK and facilitating the transition from a raw-material economy towards technological and science-intensive services in the industry of the RK;
ü Strengthening of the potential of Astana city as a field for interaction between state authorities and business structures (G 2 B Government to Business );
ü Support of Kazakhstan's manufacturers and the industry as a whole.
Congress is a complex event which consists from:

· Technical conference
· Industrial exhibition
· Museum exposition
· «Golden Hephaestus-2010» Industry Competition
· Awarding ceremony & Gala-reception
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan will visit the Congress.
In light of the main theme of the Forum: "The growth and transformation of the global metallurgical industry", discussions will focus on topics such as:
- Strategic vision of the role of metallurgical sector in the transformation of the world economy
- The role of emerging markets in the structure of the global metallurgy industry
- Innovative development of the metallurgical sector
- Changes in the ratio between production and consumption of metal products
- The main factors influencing development and competitiveness of the metallurgical sector
- Stable development and effectiveness of the metallurgical business
The Technical conference will be held concurrently with the substantive sessions of the Forum and will propose a program of seminars and presentations of the companies presenting their technologies, equipment and services for the mining and metallurgical industry. Participants of the Conference will visit the exhibition as potential users and receivers of equipment, technologies and services. In front of the entrance to the Technical Conference hall there will be a Poster Presentation Zone whereparticipants will be able to familiarize themselves with brief outlines and enclosed illustrations of reports.
As part of the Congress AMM - 2010 it is planned to organize two charity events in support of orphan asylums of Astana city, honored war veterans and families with many children of the employees of mining and metallurgical industry of Kazakhstan, as well as several environmental events.
The organization of the Exhibition includes the latest effective world techniques, technologies and innovations for improvement of the business effectiveness of activities of participants and visitors.
The AMM-2010 Project provides the basis for foundation of a permanent museum of Mineral Resources of the RK in Astana city, dedicated, among other things, to the mining and metallurgical complex (MMC) of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the Congress it is planned to present a museum exhibition of experimental models, showpieces, specimens, publications, photos and films dedicated to the MMC of the RoK. Upon completion of the ÀÌÌ – 2010 the exposition will be forwarded to the Akimat of Astana city for a subsequent organization of the Museum.
The Forum, exhibition, technical conference and museum exposition will be located at a single area, which will allow all delegates and VIP guests of the Congress to visit freely the expositional part of the Congress.
The Congress launches an entirely new intellectual product – “Development Center “Temir Kazyk. Intel™” (TKI ™), sponsored by the official partners of the AMM - 2010 project – “Has Sheber” and “Human Capital Lead” companies.
TKI ™ accumulates a set of information products and types of activities on training, Developing Human Capital and intellectual innovations in the mining and metallurgical sector of Kazakhstan and foreign countries. TKI ™ consists of a contest “Battle of Titans” between veterans of the mining industry and representatives of the “young blood” of the metal mining industry; a project “Sheber Kerueni” with a procession of meetings with complete masters; a program “Contact confirmed” with tutorials in innovations in the mining and metallurgy industry using modern technologies for youth and children, as well as a highly-topical program with thematic panel discussions, seminars and presentations.
For the first time in Kazakhstan in the framework of the Congress AMM - 2010 we will hold the National Annual Industry Competition for the title of the best in mining and metallurgy of the Republic of Kazakhstan "GOLDEN HEPHAESTUS - 2010".
The competition consists of 12 categories: The Specialist of the Year (two categories «Professional – Practitioner» and «Scholar – Pedagogue»), The Project of the Year, The Best Environmental Programme, The Best Social Programme, The Best Innovation Programme, The Breakthrough of the Year, The Person of the Year, The Best Journalistic Article, The Best Student’s Graduation Work, The Anniversary of the Year (two categories «Professional» and «Company»).
Competition Jury consists of the heads of relevant ministries, state agencies and industry associations, honorary representatives and independent experts of mining and metallurgical complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Vote results will be announced at the Winners Awarding Ceremony, which will be held on the second of July.
The AMM - 2010 Project, among its other aims, is intending to further the development of the capital of Kazakhstan as a key meeting place at the highest government and business level, affecting the political and economic processes in Central Asia and the CIS. The Congress AMM-2010 project is included into the official program of events devoted to the Birthday of the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana city (July 6, 2010).
The Congress «Astana Minerals & Metallurgy» has all the prerequisites for becoming an annual meeting place for members of the mining and metallurgical sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, where each participant will be able to receive the latest industry information and new business contacts, participate in discussions, professional competitions and special events, make its professional and personal contributionto the development of mining and metallurgical industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and society as a whole.
